Blocked door, no longer be contacted

Sometimes in your Fiverr inbox, you may see a warning “user can no longer be contacted. This will not affect your response rate.” This is an auto-generated message by Fiverr.

If Fiverr suspects someone as a spammer, they immediately block the user. And if you open the message in your inbox, you will see that you’re unable to reply to the spammer.

The user can no longer be contacted. This will not affect your response rate.

From the above screenshot, you see that a user sent me a message on Fiverr and the message field is inactive. And I have two messages from Fiverr.

The first message says that Fiverr suspects this message might be spam. And the second message says that “emma163736 can no longer be contacted. This will not affect your response rate.

It simply means the user has been blocked or removed from Fiverr & by Fiverr.

I did not blur the username of the user as I generally do. Because this is a real scammer. He/she sent me a photo that contains a contact address (Telegram) which is against Fiverr’s terms of service.

These scammers generally send the same message to many sellers on Fiverr and they try to scam freelancers out of the platform.

This is how Fiverr protects its users. And it’s a very good initiative. I really appreciate it.

What you can do with the blocked user?

You have the option to mark the message as “Not Spam” but you should never do it until you’re sure what you’re doing.

Sometimes Fiverr’s automated system does it by mistake but most of the time it’s the correct suspect.

If you’re sure that they suspected someone by mistake, you can always click the first link that says “unmark as spam.” By doing this you can activate the message field and reply to the user. Again, make sure you’re doing the right before you pretend to unmark it and contact back the user.

But still, there is a caveat. You can unmark any of the suspects but you can’t contact everyone.

Because Fiverr generally removes/blocks most of the users immediately.

So before you unmark anyone, visit their Fiverr profile first. To do that visit this URL: https://fiverr.com/blocked_username

If Fiverr redirects you to your dashboard after going through the URL, then understand that Fiverr has removed the user permanently.

Be sure to replace the “blocked_username” with the actual username.

Also, the “unmark as spam” is not always present in all suspected messages. In some cases, Fiverr may manually check a user’s activity and removed that user. In this type of case, the unmark option is not available.

For example, I don’t see any unmark option for the following user:

Blocked user without unmark option

Alright, now you know what it means by “User can no longer be contacted. This will not affect your response rate.” However, there are some other messages that have different meanings. Let’s explore them.

What does mean the user is not accepting messages at this time?

In your Fiverr inbox, sometimes you may see that “user is not accepting messages at this time.” It means that the other user has blocked you on Fiverr. And this is why you see this message.

In this case, you’re not allowed to send or reply to the user.

User is not accepting messages at this time.

On the above screenshot, you see that I see a message from Fiverr that says “{fiverr_username} is not accepting messages at this time. That means the buyer has blocked me on Fiverr and this is why I am not able to send him any more messages.

This is just a polite way to tell you that the other user has blocked you on Fiverr.

How do you know if someone blocked you on Fiverr?

After you open a message if you see that you can no longer reply & if you see Fiverr-generated info “someone is not accepting messages at this time.” It means the other user blocked you on Fiverr.

This is how you can know it.

What does mean user can no longer contact you?

If you see “{fiverr_username_here} can no longer contact you. If you wish to send a message, you will need to unblock {fiverr_username_here}” in your inbox, it means that you have blocked the other user.

But if you want to send the user a message, click the link “unblock” (as you see on the screenshot below).

User can no longer contact you

Also, if you mark someone else’s message as “Spam“, it means you also blocked the user.

What does mean “Your message was flagged for review by our Trust and Safety team?”

Fiverr monitors each user’s chat and they have certain restricted words & symbols such as “Payment, PayPal, email, phone, @, etc.”

Their automated system checks for any activities that are against their terms of service.

After you send a message to another user on Fiverr if you find the following message:

“Your message was flagged for review by our Trust and Safety team, due to possible Terms of Service violation. This process may take up to 24 hours. In the meantime, your message is not visible to {username_of_other_person}. Your patience is appreciated.”

It means Fiverr flagged your message temporarily and they will manually review the message. If they find it fine, only then your message will reach the other user. But if they find any violation, they will take action against it.

The maximum time for this manual review is 24 hours but it normally takes less than an hour.

If they find it good, they will send this message to the other user and also notify you with the following message:

“After reviewing your message we’ve decided to approve it. It was received by {fiverr_username} at {date & time}”

After reviewing your message we've decided to approve it. It was received by the user

Conclusion

Like any other freelancing website, Fiverr also has its own rules and terms of service. It’s obvious that will try to protect their platform and the users. And these warning messages, blocking users, etc are part of it.
